Yup, you read it right. I am officially addicted to armpits!
Okay I mean my own armpit. Continue reading if you are not easily grossed by people. Haha!
My intention at first was to get a fairer armpit. Yes, I have dark underarms as though being dark is not enough already. But I was not born with dark armpits (i mean darker than how dark I already am) its all the shaving and the deodorants I used then. I never had that much issue with smelly pits. Just dark & rough pits. Until my friend suggested to download an app called iHerb. And so I googled and did my research on Natural Deodorants and the best part about iHerb is its reviews. But I didn't fall for just reviews. I continued my search for weeks & weeks on google, youtube, and information on friends who were on a healthy lifestyle. My very first Natural Deodorant was a DIY. I tried detoxing my pits using activated charcoal (diarrhoea pills) mixed with honey/lemon/baking soda. I can't remember exactly the recipe I used but those were some of the ingredients that I can remember using. If you don't know how activated charcoal looks like, you can refer to the image below. You can easily get this at Guardian or Watson's.
And then I went into a crazy mode of using lemons as a deodorant. Literally just lemons on my pits every day till it burns my pit. (as I have sensitive skin, lemons were just too strong for my pits to handle) so then I went back to iHerb as I saw the reviews on Youtube about this popular Natural Deodorant brand, Schmidt's. (which is what I am still currently using)
The scents that I have tried from them are:
1. Lavender + Sage
2. Bergamot + Lime
3. Rose + Vanilla
Honestly, the first time I tried No.1, I fell in love with it and used it for a few years but decided to try the other scents suddenly everything change. I'm not in love with Schmidt's anymore.
So then i did my research again and found .....
I fell in love with the scent but..... it ruined my clothes and when it combines with my sweat, it stinks more than anything else that stinks in this world (Note: I have a very sensitive nose that is why I don't use perfumes anymore.)
Then.... I continued my research and found... Meow Meow Tweet.
I hate it! It's very expensive and smells so medicated and it does not even work!
I was so fed up that I emailed Schmidt's for suggestions. I will update you guys on our conversation but for now here's an overall review of all the products i mentioned above.

So overall I think Schmidt's is still a choice. Let's just wait to see what Schmidt's has to say and will share with you their tips on making this work.
I heard about IPL but I also heard that it is not encouraged for dark skin to do IPLs. So yea don't think I'm gonna do it. Haha!
Before I go I want to share with you why you should change to Natural Deodorant.
1. Aluminum & Paraben - Free:
Research suggests that aluminum contains genotoxic and estrogenic effects which contribute to breast cancer and neurological disorders. Organic deodorant is a safer alternative, even for those who sweat excessively. Gentler plant-based ingredients and sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) are formulated in and are just as effective at keeping you fresh, without the need for harmful ingredients such as aluminum. Parabens are also known to disrupt hormone function and lead to reproductive toxicity, immunotoxicity and neurotoxicity. Parabens are also estrogenic and can disrupt hormones in your body, leading to early puberty in children and an increased risk of hormonal cancers.
2. Cruelty-Free:
No animals were hurt or tested. Which is GREAT!
3. NO Propylene Glycol:
In large quantities, propylene glycol can damage your central nervous system, heart and liver. It is potentially toxic and linked to cancer, reproductive issues, developmental problems, neurotoxicity and endocrine complications. It is also a common skin irritant and sensitizer that causes allergic reactions and dermatitis.
And of course, there are many more advantages of changing to a Natural Deodorant that its disadvantages. HEALTH is more important than BEAUTY!

Now it is just for me to find the right deodorant for my body. Always remember everyone is unique in their own way so what works for me might not work for you. But it does not hurt to try and explore your own skin.
I hope this is useful for whoever reads this or want to try Natural products. In shaa Allah, preventing is better than curing.
Till then,
